I'd love to spot out two Nigerian Credit Cards among the numerous CC's we have in Nigeria, they are some of the most popular CC in Nigeria and they are; GTBank Naira MasterCard and UBA Visa Prepaid card (Africard). Among this two, we want to know which is best; we'll be talking about them and outlining their good and weak sides; and then you can decide the most preferred one among them. But first, let's quickly talk about Credit Card (CC).
What is a Credit Card
According to Wikipedia, a credit card is a payment card issued to users as a system of payment. It allows the cardholder to pay for goods and services based on the holder's promise to pay for them. The issuer of the card creates a revolving account and grants a line of credit to the consumer (or the user) from which the user can borrow money for payment to a merchant or as a cash advance to the user...
GTBank Naira MasterCard card is a Naira denominated debit card issued in partnership with MasterCard Worldwide. It is denominated in Naira, but can also be used to settle purchases in other major currencies (complete detials here), while the UBA Visa Prepaid card (Africard) is a debit card variant denominated in Naira and is pre-funded and re-loadable. It is internationally accepted in all Visa acceptance points (ATM, PoS & Web). Card holders do not need to have an account with UBA (complete detials here).
Acceptability - Both Credit Cards are accepted worldwide but there's a little difference; GTBank Naira MasterCard is simply great and accepted in most websites globally but not all, as a matter of fact some websites declines it, while UBA Africard is accepted in almost all websites and I have never heard that any website has ever declined UBA Africard before. Example; Aliexpress accepts UBA Africard but declines GTBank Naira MasterCard. UBA Africard can be used on sites like Facebook, Hostgator Namecheap, Aliexpress e.t.c. In global acceptability; UBA Africard is the best.
Receive Cash in Dollars - With UBA Africard you can receive dollars to the card account but GTBank Naira MasterCard cannot do that.
Acquiring your Card - Getting a UBA Africard is more flexible and easier than getting a GTBank Naira MasterCard: To get a UBA Africard, what you need do is simply visit a UBA bank, and register using these requirements: a light bill of at most three-months old, a passport photograph, and money you should deposit into the card account. If there are any other requirements, the Teller of Customer Service will tell you. On a normal occasion, you should get your UBA Africard the same day you registered. But the GTBank Naira Mastercard is attached to a savings account, the savings account may be set up within 24 hours but the MasterCard may take up to one or two weeks.
Finale - Now we come to the end of this comparison, you can now decide the one you want to go for. At this end I want to say; I wish you a good internet business or purchase experience.
