Manual Set-up to Apple iPad / iPhone Internet Connection.

It's been years since Apple launched its first new series of Tablet PCs which is iPad, but the buzz about this luxurious gadget is kept alive by the release of higher versions, designs, functionality, enhancement and OS upgrades in iPad2, iPad3 and the latest, iPad4 which in particular has a crispy retina display, Updated A6x processor and iOS 6.

The iPhone family has also experienced lots of dramatic changes in designs and performance to catch up with the new market trend where Android powered devices are almost taking over.

Whichever Apple Mobile device you bought, this guide will show how you can configure it for internet access on your mobile network.

Some Nigerian Mobile operators like MTN Nigeria also automatically push settings to Apple devices, users do not have to make any manual configurations by themselves. But if you use Airtel Nigeria, Globacom, Etisalat Nigeria and other Networks, you might need to make the following changes to get internet connection.

Settings to iPad Internet connection

  • On the Home screen, Press the Settings icon

  • On the Side Menu shown, Select Cellular Data

Click on the image(s) if you want a better view of it.

  • Make sure Cellular Data is switched ON
  • Select "APN Settings"
  • Enter your Network Operator Access Point. If you do not know what your APN is, you may google it or call their support to get it.
  • See example on the image below. Where Internet.ng.airtel.com was used as APN

Internet Settings for iPhone users

  • Click Settings >> General >> Network >>
  • Make sure Cellular data is set as ON >> Click on Cellular data Network >> Enter APN.

That's all that is needed for it to work.

Note: Most mobile networks now provide NANO SIM cards for iPad users who used to cut their SIM cards to fit into the IPad SIM tray. The NANO SIM cards fits just fine, so cutting is a thing of the past now. You can recharge the Nano SIM and subscribe to a bundle plan from your Mobile phone before putting it back into the iPad.
