As wonders shall never end, tricks also will never end. Apart from the normal pinging and other features of the Blackberry, it can also be used as a modem on different devices but we will focusing on PC today. Almost all recommendations I get are; its better than the actual modem card. One of my friends said; "using BB as a modem is 3X faster than my modem". You may have not been using you blackberry phone as a modem. Of-course you haven't been using your phone as a modem, if you were, then you wont be reading this. right? :) . 1, Install BlackBerry® Desktop Manager to your PC
Use the settings on the table below to configure your profile depending on your network of choice if you are a Nigerian.
Good question, look to the left side of your BlackBerry® Desktop Manager, you will see the time connected and the number of data used. That shows that you are connected to the internet.

How to Use BlackBerry as a Modem
1, Install BlackBerry® Desktop Manager to your PC
- You can get the BlackBerry® Desktop Manager software on the CD pack that came with your device.
- Should in case you mislaid your CD or it didn't come with your Blackberry, you can download Desktop software here (Note; Software download size is; 114MB)
- Install Manager to your PC and launch app
- Click on Tools > Mobile Internet Settings
- Click on add custom profile to define you own network settings cos not all countries' info are included
Network Operator Airtel MTN Glo Etisalat Phone Name Airtel ng MTN ng Glo ng Etialat Username internet web flat etisalat Password internet web flat etisalat Access Point Internet.ng.airtel.com Web.gprs.mtnnigeria.net gloflat etisalat Add Command
Note; If you are not a Nigerian, you may search the internet for a modem configuration settings for browsing on your country, focusing on your network of choice.
- Click on the OK button to exit the small pop up window and click the OK button again to exit the Mobile Internet Settings configuration tab.
- Go back to menu, click "tool" > "start mobile internet"
- You'll get a message that you'll be charged, Nigeria Network Operators normally charge 5 kobo per second, so its best to subscribe to a data bundle plan. If you've subscribed, click on "Connect".
