5 Awesome Guide for Thriving Blog Design

Managing a website or a blog requires the proper design management in order to make it appealing and attractive for your potential visitors. How you design your website can contribute to the quality of your visitors’ experience when using your site. The impact of blog design is something that could help to improve the user experience of your visitors as well as in giving a lasting impression among the web users.

You'd love this: Drive huge traffic with your old blog posts

Owning a blog or website means that you have to exert the effort in improving not only the quality of your content but that of the design and layout of your website as well. Visitors like to visit blog sites that can offer them a more pleasant browsing experience. For a thriving blog site or eCommerce site, web designing is an important aspect of your marketing strategy to optimize the chance of improving your website visitors’ experience and to win their approval that would encourage for them to come back to your site regularly. Here are some 5 essential steps of a thriving web or blog design.

Optimize your website for mobile

Your thriving blog or website will re-generate more traffic and profit and will reach a wider audience when it is mobile optimized in design. Considering the report released by the Ofcom Internet Usage Report published on December 12, 2013, its consumer research conducted on September 2012 reflects that the use of mobile phones consists a higher rate of ownership among the personal devices used by the consumers in 17 major countries. There are also other studies showing that consumers prefer to browse the internet using the convenience of their Smartphone devices. By making your blog design optimized for mobile viewing you are thus growing your reach to more Smartphone users.

To optimize your blog for mobile device, you should be able to use a theme or layout on your website that is responsive based on the kind of device used by your website visitors; whether they are using tablets or Smartphones.

Use the power of white space

In view of the visual arts, white spaces are those portions of a page that are left unmarked. Taking this step in improving your website or blog design will allow your visitors to absorb better the information that you want to convey to them through your site. Using white space gives your readers some break by giving them the opportunity to appreciate your website content and information. White spaces on your website helps in highlighting in prominence the specific points that you want them to understand and digest. A website from the Connect a Million Minds is a perfect web design that reflects how white spaces allows the site to convey the message it wants to convey with clarity to its readers.

Assist your visitors using a search bar

Kindly read: How to create Google Custom Search Engine

If there is one thing that a web designer should not forego when designing a blog site, it is the search bar. It can be quite frustrating for a web visitor to be searching for something but because of the overwhelming posts and content that are already displayed on a website, it is becoming a tedious task to find what they are looking for. The idea of using a search bar will always be welcomed by your visitors to make their search easier and convenient. It will also prevent your visitors to immediately leave your site without making any further search if they no longer want to spend the time to tediously search your blog. The search bar offers them the quickest way to search for what they are looking for. Placing the search bar at the top of your web page or in the upper right or left portion of your website or blog site is a good design that you can add to your thriving site. It allows your blog to immediately become connected to your visitors and they could easily find the search bar in this position.

Focus only on essential elements

Website users always prefer to visit sites where they could easily find what they are looking for. This is an important aspect in web designing because you always have to keep in mind the needs of your customers and be able to meet their expectations. Bloggers and website owners are often too focused on making their site beautiful and highly attractive which in return compromises the interface of their site that is often crowded with unnecessary elements. As a result, your visitor finds themselves lost when navigating through your site. Make sure to keep in mind what are the essential elements that your site needs and retain them while removing elements that are not really as important to your visitors. This website from ebay is a good example of a website that displays only the essential elements where their potential customers could instantly find the product prices, the category, shopping cart and search bar to easily scour for their options when visiting the site to shop.

Include a contact form on your blog site

You'd want this: How to create a professional and absolutely free contact form

Using the contact form is essential for your thriving blog site or business site. Not all bloggers and website owners are able to consider this simple form to be important to their web or blog design. Providing your visitors the ability to contact you is essential for your thriving website as it gives your readers and visitors the ability to obtain the confidence in your niche expertise or business and it is also your opportunity to communicate with interested prospects to your blog or online business. Your visitors will likely feel frustrated each time they want to contact you and there is no way they could do that. Who knows, it may be a good project or business proposal that could make you some money and you pass that chance by the failure of including a simple contact form when designing your site. Further, providing your own contact details will add professionalism to your services and business. In designing your contact form, make sure that it provides the essential information that your web visitors will likely want to know. Below is a good contact form design that will give your website visitors more leeway to get to know you more with all the essential information that they need in order to keep in touch with you.

Working Tips for a More Sociable Life

Technology and its development into our every waking moment have made the world a far less sociable place. Mobile technology especially means we are constantly connected to everything else going on in the world and we sometimes forget to enjoy the moment and the people around us.

The advent of the touch screen and particularly Apple devices has meant that people have become absorbed in their online life and forget what’s around them. It is important to put your phone away when spending time with friends and family. They are more important than the latest news or your work email. A healthier, less online focused lifestyle is not only more enjoyable but better for our bodies and minds and below are some tips for a better, more sociable way of living.

You'd love thisValentine's day: Special Treats and Ideas to Maintain a Happy Home and/or Relationship Forever

Social life

One at a Time

Limit yourself to one gadget at a time. If you’re using your computer then switch your phone off or at least have it out of immediate reach. It stops your mind from going off task and rather than multitasking across all your devices, complete one task properly on one.

Eat in Peace

It’s incredibly rude if you’re in company to keep getting your phone out and a golden rule should be to never have your phone out whilst eating. Eating and drinking should be enjoyable as well as necessary and you should be sharing your meals with friends and family, not your iPhone.

Enjoy the World around You

If you’re out and about enjoy your environment, take in the sights, even if you see them every day and appreciate the world. Don’t limit your line of vision by simply staring into your phone’s screen and enjoy the world around you instead. Once you’ve reached your destination you can check your device.

Not a Cure

It’s easy to use the internet or technology as a cure for everything, especially boredom. Avoid this at all costs. Schedule times in your day where you simply don’t need to look at your smartphone such as going for a walk, running errands and eating your meals. Schedule in further times where using your phone could be necessary such as checking the morning news and then you don’t need to keep checking it all day. There are better cures for boredom than stopping by Facebook every 15 minutes.

Appreciate your Friends

Enjoy and engage with the people who mean the most to you. If you arrange time out with friends and family dedicate it to them. Store your phone safely in your bag and give your all to your companions. Interrupting a real time conversation for a text or e-mail really devalues it. Likewise ensure you do arrange dates with your friends and ensure your relationships are more than mobile.

Of course a mobile phone is something everybody needs for emergencies and keeping up to date but it won’t be integral to your every waking moment.

5 Working Secrets for Writing Great Guest Posts

Writing breathtaking articles is a great way to turn visitors into readers, maintain your regular reader, and a smart way to get your articles accepted by your hosts while submitting them as guest posts - guest post on the other hand is a great means wherewith you can use in generating tons of traffic to your site and establish yourself as an authority on your subject. However, writing a guest post isn't as it is when writing an article on your blog. There are a few working ways to make this easy: the following are just some sure tips you can use to create better guest posts.

You'd love thisA Simple Guide to Write Mind Boggling Guest Posts

Know the Blog you are Writing For

When given a great opportunity like a guest post, you have to seize it. Write a post that blends in with the blog, not stands out as something entirely different. Read tens of articles, read what is popular, read the comments. Reading the comments will tell you who the audience is. See what they like and what stirs up discussion. This isn't just to promote yourself, it is to provide great content for the blog.

Your Author Bio is the Key

The few words that you will get for your author bio are very important. Make every single one count. Every sentence you write should accomplish something. You will obviously want to link to your own blog. If you have an e-book or something that you are trying to promote, this is where you will mention it. Don't forget to link your author bio with Google Authorship. The highly visible byline this creates in search results is great for you and the blog owner.

Be Active In Their Community

You are going to have a harder time selling a blog owner on your guest post idea if you simply appear out of the blue. Before you pitch, start posting in the comments section. Write good, detailed responses that showcase your style and your knowledge. After your post gets published, stay on top of the comments. Respond to every single one you can with a thorough reply. Effective communication with a blog audience is a sure fire way to get new readers.

Write Something Great

This almost goes without saying, but don't hold back at all. Deliver one of the best posts that you can. Take the care that you put towards writing your author bio and apply it to the whole article. You are being trusted by the blog owner to create content that is on par with their own. Otherwise, there is no reason for you to be writing a guest post. Your post should give the sense that if the reader wants more articles like this, they can go to your blog to read them.

Its All In The Details

Even a really stellar article can flop if you don't pay attention to all of the little things. Research your article thoroughly. Part of being an authority is knowing where to find authoritative information. Spend some time on your headline. It needs to be a refined balance between something informative and something attention grabbing.

While we may be more lax when working on our blog, that is because we can afford to be. Take the lessons you've learned in crafting a perfect guest post, and bring them back to your own blog writing.

How to Install the New Official Blogger Contact Form

Wow! New improvement to our beloved blogging platform, Blogger.com. Seriously, I am loving blogger everyday, I have a WordPress blog and hosting, and I can build as much websites on WP as I want, but there's something special in blogger and their improvement is something else. I remember blogger launching that option for permalinks which enables you to make the most of posts' URLs, they also launched Blogger Wikipedia search box, and a G+ Comment for Blogger. Awesome isn't it?

I heard a romour about this update, that blogger will launch a contact form - this was about two months ago or so, normally I doubted, but the proves that backed up the claim made me believe that it will truly come to reality, but I didn't really worry about its release, cos I use Foxyform Contact form for readers' messages which works just fine. Let's see how the piece works.

BlackBerry R10 Touch Gestures Video Leaks

One of the world's most exclusive mobile developers, Blackberry are indeed working hard, and its no doubt that that's one of the awesome reasons why their are strictly on the top list of the mobile market.

They are yet to officially confirm the launch of the R10 BB model as their next smartphone in the BlackBerry 10 revamp, hmm... Trust BB lovers, BB ardents are already planning to get the said Blackberry R10, don't be surprise. Seriously, a growing number of users are interested in picking up a device that has been touted as a ‘budget’ version of the Q10 – a QWERTY based device that will offer an alternative to the already-available BlackBerry Z10.

blackberry r10 front back pics

Upon the mystery surrounding BB R10 in respect of official information, a leaked video has emerged of the elusive device, appearing to show some of the touch-based gestures that will be available on the R10 upon release. The R10 is also going to feature a physical QWERTY keyboard like the Q10, although hardware specs are likely to be toned down to accommodate a cheaper market price than the Q10.

To recap, rumored features so far include a 3.1-inch 720×720 display and 5-megapixel camera, compared to an 8 megapixel camera and 1080p video capabilities on the Q10. The video, which we've included above shows a very brief walk through of some of the gestures that will be available – including a look at what the drop down notifications menu will look like. See the video below, when you're done don't forget to mention your take on this on the comment and kindly subscribe for updates.

404 vs. 410: what Google prefers

This is a recurring question. Should I put up a 410 instead of a 404 for my non-existing pages? Is 410 better than 404?

Firstly, you should know that there is no preference to have on these two codes, for the simple reason that each http response corresponds to a particular case. These two codes do not mean the same thing, there is therefore, strictly speaking, just no reason to make a choice. You must return one or the other as needed.

Then they still have a point of convergence: Beyond the fact that they belong to the same family of codes http (4xx) ;), the two codes are used to tell the user (web surfers) or the robot (crawler) which ask them the question, that the page they intend to visit does not exist / more. We immediately see the benefit in terms of SEO.

You'd love this: How to Use Gmail Offline

And finally, in a post on the help forum to Google webmaster, John Wu (famous Googler), confirmed that Google previously treated the two responses codes in the same way. But, in view of their use by webmasters, this has changed to the extent that Google would prefer a response code 410 rather than 404

“I Followed up on the 404 vs 410 thing with the team here. As mentioned by some others here & elsewhere, we have generally been treating them the same in the past. However, effective looking at how webmasters use them in practice we are now treating in the 410 HTTP result code as a bit "more permanent" than a 404. So if you're absolutely safe. That a page no longer exists and will never exist again, using a 410 would Likely be a good thing.”

Having said this, do not rush to break your server configuration to return 410 in every way, I think that this preference is only superficial and that it is not worth it to change all your settings. He says so himself: "This is not worth to break it, but if you were to re-configure your servers, it would be a good practice to implement."

« I don’t think it’s worth rewriting a server to change from 404 to 410, but if you’re looking at that part of your code anyway, you might as well choose the “permanent” result code if you can be absolutely sure that the URL will not be used again. If you can’t be sure of that (for whatever reason), then I would recommend sticking to the 404 HTTP result code.

In the worst case, the 410 will be treated the same as a 404; in the best case it’ll be a bit quicker&stickier »

You'd love this: Things I Do to Gain Authority on SERP and thus; Traffic

It is essential to be sure that the page will no longer exists ever to return this code.

Meaning of HTTP and SEO

For those who are interested, here are the definitions of the two return codes http. This will serve to understand in which case we can use them and what is the potential impact in terms of SEO

Http code 404

The server informed us that the page that you ask him is unknown. It is therefore impossible to refer you a satisfactory answer.

Http code 410

The server informs you that the page you requested is known but that it is impossible to return it to you because it has been deliberately removed from the results. He also informed us that he will never be able to return an answer with this Uri. There is therefore a real subtlety and that each of these codes is suitable for a particular situation.

My recommendations:

  • In the daily management of your site, I recommend you to leave the 404 (for now because I think there is no real gain to use a 410)
  • If you made a cleaning of your site, so you will actually show your willingness to "cleaner" your site. In this case, a 410 will say to the engines: I know this page but I deliberately deleted it.
With all that in place we're done, hope this answered your question. Kindly subscribe to WorldWebSurfers.com using the form below or following us on our social profiles. By the way, what's your take on this; kindly use the comment. Cheers!
